Adrienne Ségur is at the center of Art Passions because my lifelong love of fairy tales began with the illustrations to The Fairy Tale Book by Adrienne Segur. It has been republished as The Golden Book of Fairy Tales. If you know the original book, you will find that the colors are close, but not an exact match. The Fairy Tale Book images here are come from my own copy that I have kept since I was a girl.

Copyright information: Images on this website are believed to be copyright free. My words, however, are not so don't lift them and claim them as your own. If you believe there is a copyright issue, please see the FAQ for how to proceed. That said, I have spent no small amount of money on antique books and done a lot of work scanning and cleaning up the art here. Some sites, such as Wiki Art and others have made available much of my work without attribution and taking credit for making it available. They do provide a good resource, but it does kind of takes some of the fun out of it. Still, you are welcome to use the images for any purpose, including displaying them on your blog or personal website, sharing them on social media, creating derivative works, and making their beauty available to others. Attribution is nice, but not required.

Spanish fairy tales give children confidence, as they listen to the story many times. They become familiar with the characters, settings, and plot. Also, they associate language learning with fun moments. Grammatical understanding and vocabulary expansion are by-products of this experience.

Spanish fairy tales are especially excellent for teaching children how to listen, read, and talk in Spanish. The poetic cadence and descriptive language of fairy tales make them enjoyable to listen to and follow if they are spoken orally. Thank you for this amazing blog!

A black-and-white version of The Prince With the Golden Hand; my copy of this picture from a fairy-tale was hand-cloured, presumably by some previous owner of the book. See that image page for a short extract from the story, or you can read the whole story online at chestofbooks.com.
